Monticello Earth Day
Arbor Day
April 23, 2001
The program and tree planting was to take place Monday, April 23rd at 1:00 p.m. at the entrance to the subdivision.  Because of the gusty winds and threat of bad weather, the program was held at the Monticello Schools.  The planting took place Thursday, April 26th.  Mr. Jules Cappelle, one of the fourth grade teachers  welcomed everyone and introduced the speakers.

Harold Babler read the Arbor Day proclamation.

State District Forester, Dave Stephenson spoke next and presented the Tree City USA award to the Village clerk, Carol Strause.  This is the 8th year in a row that the village of Monticello has received this award.

Each of the 4th graders then spoke about Earth Day Environment Tips.
