WIGREEN Mailing List
Purpose.
The WIGREEN list is for discussion of the history of Green County, Wisconsin, and the genealogy of
Green County families.

How to subscribe.  Send an e-mail message to:

  • WIGREEN-L-request@rootsweb.com (for mail mode, each post is sent seperately).
  • WIGREEN-D-request@rootsweb.com (to start receiving digests, several postings are combined and sent to you together as a single large message).

    • In the body include only one word:      subscribe
    (No additional text and turn OFF your signature file when sending this command)

    How to unsubscribe. Send a message to:

  • WIGREEN-L-request@rootsweb.com
  • WIGREEN-D-request@rootsweb.com

    • (depending on which on you are subscribed to)
    In the body include only one word:      unsubscribe
    (No additional text and turn OFF your signature file when sending this command)

    How to change from one to the other.
    There are two steps.
    First, send the command "unsubscribe" to the one that you are subscribed to, to discontinue it.
    Second, send the command "subscribe" to the the list that you want.

    How to change to NOMAIL mode.
    There is no formal NOMAIL mode.  All you have to do is follow the directions above and unsubscribe when you want the messages to stop, and then when you want them to start again, simply subscribe again.

    To post a message to the list.
    If you'd like to post a message so everyone on the mailing list receives it, just send it to WIGREEN-L@rootsweb.com.  It will then be sent on to everyone in both mail and digest mode. You don't need to send it explicitly to both.

    Message format and attachments.
    Please submit messages only in plain text, and don't submit attachments.  Many of our subscribers are using software that cannot read attachments.  Please, always use a helpful subject line like "John DOE d. 1800 in Green Co WI", rather than a generic one like "inquiry about my family line".

    Please do not:
    Submit virus alerts, chain letters, or other off-topic material to the list.  Don't send copies of copyrighted
    material.  Vulgarity and personal attacks on other list members are also unwelcome.  If someone else violates these rules, please do not send their message back to this list!  That just magnifies the problem, and defeats our anti-spam defenses at Rootsweb.
