JUNIOR RANGER DAY
Grades K Thru 3rd
1-4 p.m. Parent and child learn about nature together.  Child earns patch and certificate.
Awards at 3:45 p.m.

EVENING STORY, CRAFT, and HIKE TIME
For ages 7 and under

July 17 Animal Habitats and Homebuilding.
July 24 My Five Senses - Explore the New Glarus Woods through all five senses.
July 31 Bats - Dress up night - Wear a costume if you have one or bring a towel or small blanket for each child to use as wings.
August  7 Birds - Habitat and Behavior.
August 14 Behaviors of Night Animals.

FAMILY CRAFT and NATURE PROGRAMS
For all ages of children and adults

June  6 Beaded Wildflower Chain 2-3 p.m.  Make a bracelet, anklet or choker
June 13 Stamp and Print Nature Designs with Fabric Paint 6-7 p.m.  Bring a cotton T-shirt or canvas bag per person for your own use.
June 20 Decoupage Rock 6-7 p.m. Make a dated rock paperweight to celebrate 100 years of Wisconsin State Parks.
June 27 Plaster Paris Nature Casting 2-3 p.m. Bring a clean pie tin.
July  4 Make a Nature Treasure Memory Box 2-3 p.m. Bring a shoe box or small box, scissors and cut out pictures of nature scenes from magazines.  Celebrate 100 years of Wisconsin State Parks.
July 18 Basic Finger Weaving 2-3 p.m.  Bring scissors and a cardboard box.
July 25 Making Rope and Cording from Plants 2-3 p.m.
August 1 Stick Picture Frame 2-3 p.m.  Bring a cardboard box and a cutting tool for your own use.
August 8 How to make a Cattail basket 2-3 p.m.  Bring scissors, a small box and cloths pins.

 
A Wisconsin state park vehicle sticker must be displayed on your vehicle.  There is no cost for these programs, but donations for materials are greatly appreciated. Due to limited class sizes on Mondays and Tuesdays, pre-registration is required.  Early registration will be provided to members of the Friends of the New Glarus Woods State Park up to May 13, then registration will be opened to the general public.  To register or for more program information, call the New Glarus Woods State Park at 527-2335.  Note: all programs are subject to change.

June 24 Wolves - Timber Wolf Alliance Presentation by Carl Anderson and Rose Wood 3-4 p.m.
July  1 Night Walk in a Dark Woods.  Meets 9 p.m.  Bring a flashlight.
July  8 Hand Shadow and Silhouettes 9-10 p.m.
July 15 Fireflies 8-9 p.m.  Bring one flashlight  per child.
July 22 Plant Identification Hike 6-7 p.m.
July 29 Campfire Cooking 10-11 a.m.  Bring  your own plate and utensils.
August  5 TBA
August  12 Shooting Star Night Sky 9-10 p.m. Bring a blanket, binoculars or telescope if you have one.
August  19 Prairie Information Hike 2-3 p.m.
August  26 Walking Sticks 7-8 p.m.  Finding, decorating and preserving techniques will be presented.
September 2 TBA

EVENTS AT OTHER LOCATIONS:
JUNE 25  Outdoor Skills at CADIZ SPRINGS REC. AREA
9 a.m.-4 p.m.  Activities include:  Tomahawk throw, fly fishing, Dutch oven cooking, boat and ATV safety, and trapping.
JULY 15  Outdoor Skills Day at YELLOWSTONE STATE PARK
9 a.m.-4 p.m.  Activities include:  Archery, backpacking, orienteering, blue bird house workshop, boating, BB gun safety, and climbing techniques with rope.  Rain Date- July 22.
AUGUST 12-13  1840's Rendezvous at YELLOWSTONE STATE PARK
Dozens of Camps from the 1840's.  Activities include:  frying pan throw, tomahawk throw, and potato and apple peeling contest.
